Three juveniles are facing charges after they reportedly stole three semi-automatic handgun-style airsoft guns from a local department store and attempted to make them look like real firearms.
According to Kenosha Police, the theft took place Sunday. On Tuesday, detectives located all three suspects and recovered the stolen items. Retail theft charges have been referred on the juvenile suspects.
Two of the three airsoft guns had been modified to remove the orange plastic tip, according to police.
During interviews, the suspects revealed that they modified the airsoft guns to make them appear real in case they had to brandish them.
By removing the plastic tip, police said the airsoft guns appear virtually identical to a real firearm and could easily be mistaken for such, creating a potentially dangerous situation if displayed.
