I do not understand how WE Energies can ask for more money while they waste money on radio ads, half page newspaper ads, print cookie recipe books and host Christmas parties. Maybe in years past all this consumer relations fluff was acceptable, but in today’s economy when people are barely making ends meet and WE Energies is granted a rate increase, how can they honestly justify this waste of money?

I asked them that very question and was told by their customer service department that the consumer actually wanted information on how to save energy and the virtues of WE Energies. I for one do not want that information, so maybe all the affluent customers can throw some extra money in with their bill and pay for this useless advertising and I can maintain my utility rate.

Isn’t advertising meant to steer the consumer to your product? What choices do I have in utility suppliers?
