7QUESTIONS+PLUS Mayoral candidate Keith Bosman. While Kenosha residents debate the merits of Bosman and fellow mayoral candidate Patrick Moran, we decided to take a different look at them this week and challenged readers to send them questions not related to politics or their campaigns. For Bosman, we learned about his ideal vacation, his favorite spots in Kenosha and his affection for good music. Moran will answer the same questions next week.
What is your favorite summer event to attend in Kenosha? The Rotary Softball Tournament at Lincoln Park. I see a lot of friends there. When you're not being a politician, just being a regular Kenoshan what's your favorite place to go in town, and why? Southport Marina. It is a great place to walk. It has wonderful views and photo ops. What’s your favorite restaurant in Kenosha to go to, and why? I have to be a politician here, since I have many friends and clients in the restaurant business. I like places that get away from the usual fare; places that try something different. If they have an item featured on a “chalkboard,” I will usually go for that. What’s your favorite park, beach, or other natural attraction in Kenosha, and why? Outside of the aforementioned lakefront, I think that the floral gardens at Lincoln Park are spectacular. The view from the gardens, looking north at the bridge and the lagoon is just great. Did you watch the eclipse on the night of Feb. 20th, if so who did you watch it with, and how did you like it? I didn't watch it. Where do you stand on the meaty issue of Rib-Eye vs. Porterhouse, and since we're prying here exactly how much do you think it should be cooked? What’s the best advice you’ve received? "Don't get too excited about the good things, and don't get too down about the bad things." I have always been very competitive, both in sports and business. When I would lose a game or lose some business that I thought that I should have had, it would get me down so I had to work to even out the highs and lows and learn to just move on to the next challenge. If there’s anywhere you could live besides Kenosha, where would that be and why? My brother lives in North Carolina near Chapel Hill. It is a beautiful area and the climate is not nearly as harsh as good old Kenosha. There are a lot of interesting things going on in the area with Duke University, the University of North Carolina and NC State all right there. What’s one thing you want to do before you die? Be a contestant on “Jeopardy!” If you take out ballet and pop culture, I am a fountain of trivial information. My family and I have had some pretty competitive games of Trivial Pursuit. Who are what inspires you? My mother is a very inspirational person. She is 87 (sorry, Mom) and is on the go all of the time. She goes to the theater, reads a lot, volunteers at the soup kitchen and at church, has lots of friends and lots of interests. We have a very large family and, with that, a lot of ups and downs and she has always been a rock. What’s your ideal vacation? October and fall colors in Door County. What musician or band would you do just about anything to see play live? Most of the guys that I would like to see can't do "live" anymore; Sinatra, Roy Orbison, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Duane Allman and Jimi Hendrix, but I would like to see the Stones and Clapton before either I or they join the others. If you could have dinner with anyone living or dead, who would you choose? And what would you talk about? Christopher Columbus. Tell me about your trip. How technically-savvy are you? I am getting better every day; my daughter has taught me a lot. What are the top songs on your music playlist? “California Dreaming,” “Stairway to Heaven,” “Crossroads,” “Crazy,” “Ring of Fire,” “Stand By Your Man,” “You've Got to Fight for Your Right to Party,” and “Stardust.” What is a movie you think everyone needs to see at least once in their lifetime? “To Kill a Mockingbird” If your mother were to describe you in three words, what words would she use? She would probably be very complimentary and say that I am smart, funny and a leader. I am the oldest of five. In high school you would have been voted ... Fastest kid on the field. ... I could run pretty good back then.
