The Hilltoppers (12-1) take on McDonnell Central (10-3) in the Division-7 title game at Camp Randall Stadium. Listed on BCC’s roster are local residents Luke Wagner (senior, Salem), Sam Wagner (senior, Salem), Andrew Czarny (senior, Wheatland), Ryan Dillon (senior, Paddock Lake), T.J. Floyd (junior, Salem), Abel Wagner (sophomore, Salem) and T.J. Walkington (sophomore, Bristol).
The BCC game is the first of four title clashes today. There will be three championship games on Friday. All games will be televised by Fox Sports Wisconsin.

Also today, Edgar (13-0) takes on Eau Claire Regis (12-1) at 1 p.m. for the Division-6 title; Acardia (11-2) faces Fond du Lac St. Mary’s Springs (13-0) at 4 p.m. for Division-5 supremacy; and Kewaunee (13-0) plays Walworth Big Foot (13-0) at 7 p.m. for the Division-4 crown.
The parade of games concludes Friday when 13-0 Milwaukee Marquette, which jettisoned Bradford in the third round, battles 12-1 Menomonee Falls at 4 p.m. for the Division-1 championship. Also Friday, West De Pere (12-1) plays Reedsburg (10-3), 10 a.m. in Division-3 and Kimberly (12-1) faces Waunakee (12-1), 1 p.m. in Division-2.
Fliess leads BCCCatholic Central, which defeated Hilbert 37-14 for the title last year, is led by quarterback Brian Fliess, who has passed for 1,765 yards and 25 touchdowns and rushed for 1,162 yards and 17 touchdowns.
The Hilltoppers lone loss was a 7-0 setback to Wilmot Aug. 30 in Burlington. BCC defeated St. Joseph 25-21 in Week 3 and Shoreland 48-32 in Week 5.
McDonell Central is making its WIAA state title game debut. The Macks won a WISAA championship in 1989.
Division-1:We meet againIn a battle of Greater Metro Conference rivals, Menomonee Falls is looking for payback Friday for its only loss of the season, 27-7 to the Hilltoppers, who are making their WIAA championship game debut after winning eight titles in the now-defunct WISAA.
“We’ve been enjoying the ride,” Menomonee Falls coach John Baker said. “When we played Marquette in week eight it was a good test for our kids.
“The Greater Metro Conference is very, very strong and it’s been tested and proven. I’m happy to play them again and see what happens.”
Marquette coach Dick Basham, the state’s all-time winning football coach, said the Division-1 state title game matches two teams with a long competitive history.
“We started scrimmaging them in 1973,” he said.
“Since then we have either scrimmaged or played a game against Menomonee Falls every year.
“There isn’t a team that we know better or they us. We’re happy to be playing them and think it’s going to be a terrific football game.”
Marquette defeated Bradford 35-28 in the quarterfinal round.
Division-2:A three-peat?Kimberly coach Steve Jorgensen expected the Papermakers to have a solid season.
But defending back-to-back WIAA Division-2 state titles seemed a bit out of reach for a program that graduated 18 of 22 starters, including all 11 on offense.
Add in the loss of starting quarterback Mitch Hintz in the final regular-season game, and Kimberly looked like a candidate for a quick exit from the state playoffs.
Instead, the Papermakers will be back at Camp Randall Stadium for the third straight year when they meet perennial power Waunakee for the championship.
Jorgensen said the Papermakers, who are averaging 42.5 points a game in the playoffs, used the loss of Hintz to help them write their own legacy.
“Mitch was really our warrior on our football team; he was our best player,” he said. “These kids weren’t expected to do as well and to end up at Camp Randall is a credit to them.”
In Waunakee, the Papermakers face a program with nine state semifinal berths in the past 12 years, including a Division-2 state runner-up finish in 2005 and Division-3 state titles in 1999 and 2002.
Waunakee’s only setback was a 15-10 loss at Reedsburg, a Division 3 state finalist, in the sixth game of the season. The Warriors average 38.8 points per game behind a pair of 1,000-yard running backs in senior Kyle Acker and sophomore Leo Musso.
University of Wisconsin recruit Jake Irwin is a three-year starter in the offensive line.
Ends Irwin and Mitch Severson and linebacker Darren Anderson lead a stingy defense that has allowed just 8.2 points per game.
“You hate to lose any time and that was a big loss. We used it as an opportunity to get better,” Rice said of the loss to Reedsburg that snapped a 44-game Northern Badger Conference winning streak. “Our kids responded really well and didn’t let that game define us.”
Division-3:Reedsburg returnsLast year’s runner-up Reedsburg is making its second appearance in the state final Friday after losing to Waupaca 21-20 when a two-point conversion attempt was stopped late in the fourth quarter.
Quarterback Chad Mazur has rushed for nearly 1,300 yards operating the option attack but tossed a pair of TD passes to Matt Lennon to rally the Beavers to a thrilling 16-13 victory over Catholic Memorial in the semifinals.
West De Pere is making its title game debut after ousting defending champion Waupaca 17-7 in the state semifinals.
The Phantoms are led by 2,000-yard rusher Beau Bellmore.
Division-4:Battle of unbeatensBig Foot rallied from a two-touchdown deficit to defeat Lodi 27-21 in the state semifinals and earn a return trip to today’s state title game. The Chiefs lost to Wautoma-Faith Christian 20-0 last year. Safety Mike Walker has anchored a Big Foot defense that has allowed only two teams to score in double figures this season.
Kewaunee is back at Camp Randall for the first time since back-to-back appearances in 2006 and 2007, when it was runner-up both times in Division-5. The Indians are led by quarterback Doug Delebreau, who has passed for over 2,100 yards.
Division-5:No 4 for SpringsSt. Mary’s Springs is making its fourth championship game appearance today under legendary coach Bob Hyland and first since finishing runner-up in 2005 in Division-6.
The Ledgers, who won the Division 6 2002 title, have held their opponents to just 74 points in 13 games.
Arcadia, which has allowed just 35 points in the playoffs, is making its state championship game debut.
Division-6:Edgar makes historyEdgar, which lost to Stratford 7-3 in last year’s Division 6 title game, is making its ninth state championship game appearance today, which ties with Arrowhead for the most appearances in the championship finals.
The Wildcats, whose last title was in 2001, have shutout 11 of their 13 opponents this season and allowed just 13 points in 13 games.
Regis returns to the title game for the third time overall and for the first time since winning a state title in 2003. Regis won three WISAA championships before joining the WIAA.
