Locals have strong showing at invite

Tremper nets pair of firsts in long jump

Tremper’s Riley Keckeisen and Madeline Troy netted first-place finishes Saturday in the Performance Running Outfitters Invitational at UW-Parkside.

The pair each won the long jump, as Keckeisen’s leap measured 22 feet and ½ inch, and Troy’s total was 17-8¼. She also finished third in the 55-meter dash in 7.44 seconds.

The Indian Trail boys (40 points) and girls (37) teams each finished seventh overall in the team standings. The Tremper boys (37) and girls (30) were each eighth. Shoreland’s girls were 14th (10) and its boys were 15th (7).

Arrowhead’s boys took first place with 85.5 points and Brookfield Central’s girls placed first with 90 points. Eigthteen girls teams scored points, 17 boys teams scored points.

Indian Trail’s boys had several second-place showings: Armani Carmickle in the long jump (21-10½), Tyler Jeffries in the high jump (5-10) and R.J. Yenerall in the 400 (54.84).

The Hawks also placed third in two relay events. Matthew Craft, Michael Craft, Alex Jarvis and Joe Mitka represented the team in the 1,600 relay (3:45.67), and Mitka, Connor Calara, Sam Bernhagen and Evan Infante ran the 3,200 relay (9:04.30).

Indian Trail’s girls also had a number of runner-up finishes: Alicia Jones in the long jump (16-10¾), Madison Taylor in the 3,200 (12:30.55) and Rachel Castelli in the 400 (1:04.47).

The Hawks’ Amaya Anderson finished fourth in the long jump (16-3½) as well.

A fourth-place finish also came from the Trojans’ Sam Cardinelli, Zander Huang, Tamarius Harvey and Keckeisen in the 1,600 relay (3:49.39).

Also finishing fourth were Tremper’s Luke Hupp in the high jump (5-10) and the Pacers’ Scott Hoffman in the pole vault (12-6).

Other notable finishes came in the 55 dash, 55 hurdles and 1,600.

In the 55 dash, Tremper’s Ricky Edwards placed fourth (6.77) and Ethan Krueger of Indian Trail was fifth (6.82).

In the 55 hurdles, Shoreland’s Rebekah Salfer was fourth (9.97), teammate J Pim was fifth (10.06) and Indian Trail’s Kylaira Harris was sixth (10.19).

In the 1,600, Tremper’s Riley Hansen took fourth (5:37.81), the Trojans’ Emma Hupp was sixth (5:41.26) and Indian Trail’s Molly Balch placed seventh (5:55.66).

The high jump featured three girls who tied for fifth (4-8) in Tremper’s Molly Shannon and Lacy Dever, as well as the Hawks’ Janna Hollingsworth.

The Trojans had two runners place in the 400, as Harvey took fifth (55.97) and Thomas Matoska was sixth (56.05).

Tremper was sixth in the 800 relay (1:39.44) thanks to Edwards, Keckeisen, Cardinelli and Luke Eidsor. The Trojans’ Mitchell Alley, Esteban Ramos, Mark Nelson and Zander Huang also finished the 3,200 relay in eighth (9:40.41).

Seventh-place showings were turned in by Shoreland’s Michael Meinke in the 55 hurdles (8.97) and Indian Trail’s Kerigann Ballard in the 800 (2:36.90).

Rounding out area point scorers by taking eighth were Sean Banaszak of Indian Trail in the shot put (42-7) and Luke Hupp in the long jump (19-11).
