JOLIET, Ill. — The Parkside track and field teams closed out the weekend with a pair of NCAA Division II provisional qualifying performances at the Fighting Saints Last Chance Meet, hosted Friday and Saturday at Joliet Memorial Stadium.
On the women's side, Nailah Taylor delivered a historic performance in the high jump, clearing 1.70m (5-7) to win the event and hit the NCAA Division II provisional standard. Taylor's mark broke a Parkside school record that had stood for more than a decade and currently ranks 27th in NCAA Division II this season.
Abbi Steiner also secured an NCAA Division II provisional mark, running 35:51.51 in the 10,000 meters to place fifth overall.
Rachel Blaskowski added another event victory for the Rangers in the long jump, recording a leap of 5.80m (19-0.5).
Freshman Anna Snorek competed in the 200 meters, placing fourth in 25.25.
On the men's side, Thomas Stiltner captured the event title in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.43.
The Rangers now await the NCAA Division II selection announcements, which will be released on Tuesday, May 12.
