KENOSHA, Wis. — Parkside women's soccer continues its six-match homestand this week as the Rangers open GLIAC play at Wood Road Field, hosting Roosevelt on Friday, Sept. 11, at 1 p.m. before welcoming Purdue Northwest on Sunday, Sept. 13, at noon.
The Rangers enter conference play at 2-1-1 following an 0-1-1 week against a pair of regional opponents. Parkside suffered its first loss of the season last Wednesday at Missouri-St. Louis, falling 2-1 in a match that saw all three goals scored in the final eight minutes. The Rangers returned home Friday and battled Concordia-St. Paul to a scoreless draw, with sophomore Lindsey Ferrara recording the first clean sheet of her career. Parkside controlled much of the match statistically, outshooting the Golden Bears 12-6 overall and 6-1 in shots on goal.
Junior Ava Rizzitano leads the Rangers with seven points and shares the team lead with freshman Mary Leininger at three goals apiece. Leininger has scored the game-winning goal in both Parkside victories this season, tying her for the GLIAC lead in that category. Redshirt junior Kate Brown and Leininger each have six points, while Brown, Lindsay Dahlinger and Emily Slye share the team lead with two assists. Rizzitano has generated a team-high 17 shots and ranks second in the GLIAC with 10 shots on goal, making her one of just two players in the conference to reach double figures in shots on frame.

As a team, Parkside is tied for third in the GLIAC with nine goals through four matches and owns a plus-four goal differential. The Rangers have also held a significant advantage in attacking opportunities, outshooting opponents 59-36 overall and 28-12 on goal while holding a 23-7 advantage in corner kicks.

Scouting Roosevelt
The Lakers (0-2-2) are still searching for their first victory of the 2026 season after opening the year with draws against Upper Iowa and Jamestown. Roosevelt went 0-2 last week, falling 2-1 at Lewis on Wednesday before suffering a 4-0 home loss Sunday against the same Concordia-St. Paul side Parkside faced Friday. The Lakers have scored four goals and allowed nine through their first four matches, while opponents have held a 64-51 advantage in shots and a 28-17 edge in shots on goal.
Four different Lakers have found the back of the net this season, with Dayami Arias, Aaliyah Leanos, Bella Perry and Regina Rosales each scoring once. Leanos and Perry share the team lead with 11 shots apiece, while Arias has taken 10 shots and leads Roosevelt with five shots on goal. Mackenzie Alvarez, Ella De Sousa and Olivia Lange have each recorded an assist. Freshman goalkeeper Kaylee Sarnicola has played all 360 minutes in net, recording 19 saves with a .679 save percentage.
Roosevelt was picked ninth in the 10-team GLIAC preseason coaches poll with 17 points. The Lakers finished 5-12-1 overall and 3-10-1 in conference play last season, earning a spot in the GLIAC Tournament before their season ended with a 1-0 loss in the quarterfinals.
Friday will mark the fourth all-time meeting between Parkside and Roosevelt, with the Rangers holding a 2-0-1 advantage in the series. Parkside earned a 4-2 victory in Arlington Heights last season behind the first career braces for Brown and Dahlinger. The programs' only previous meeting in Kenosha came Oct. 4, 2024, when the Rangers and Lakers battled to a 0-0 draw.
Scouting Purdue Northwest
Purdue Northwest enters the week at 2-1-1 after a 3-0 road victory over Winona State on Sunday. The Lions have scored nine goals while allowing just three through their first four matches, giving them a plus-six goal differential, and have yet to be shut out this season. PNW will host Davenport on Friday in Hammond, Indiana, before traveling to Kenosha for Sunday's matchup.
Senior Nayla Pena and sophomore Sophia Carbone lead the Lions with three goals apiece. Pena has a team-high seven points with three goals and an assist, while Carbone has six points and has scored the game-winning goal in both PNW victories. Mia Davis has added a goal and two assists for four points, while Addison Thomas also shares the team lead with two assists. Carbone has put five of her eight shots on goal, while Pena has four shots on frame in seven attempts. The Lions have also done much of their damage early, scoring seven of their nine goals in the first half.
Defensively, PNW has posted two shutouts and is allowing just 0.75 goals per match as a team. Goalkeeper Meta Fischer has played more than 346 minutes through the first four contests, making 17 saves while posting a .850 save percentage and 0.78 goals-against average. The Lions and their opponents have each attempted 38 shots this season, but PNW has converted nine of those opportunities compared with just three goals for its opponents.
Purdue Northwest was picked eighth in the 10-team GLIAC preseason coaches poll with 27 points. The program, then known as the Pride, finished 6-11-2 overall and 4-5-2 in GLIAC play last season, earning the No. 7 seed in the conference tournament. Its season ultimately ended in Kenosha, where Parkside earned a 2-0 victory in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinals.
Sunday will be the 16th all-time meeting between Parkside and Purdue Northwest, with the Rangers holding an 11-2-2 advantage in the series. Parkside has never lost to PNW at home, posting a 6-0-2 record in Kenosha. The Rangers won all three meetings last season, including both contests at Wood Road Field, and outscored PNW 7-1 across those three matches. Purdue Northwest's last victory in the series came Oct. 18, 2024, in Hammond.
