KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside men's soccer team will open GLIAC play this week, hitting the road to take on Roosevelt University on Thursday night before heading to Minnesota to take on St. Cloud State on Sunday afternoon.
The Rangers enter the week 2-2-0. Parkside is coming off a lengthy break, with their last contest coming on September 6th. The last week we saw the Rangers they defeated Maryville University thanks to a second-minute goal by Stefan Zekanovic. Parkside then struggled to generate offense, putting just four shots on target in a 1-0 loss to Thomas More.
Keven Sosa and Stefan Zekanovic have each scored goals for Parkside this season, with Hudson Scheiber having the lone assist. Mateusz Pass has played all 360 minutes in net this season. He has made 19 saves and has the one shutout, which came against Maryville this week.

Parkside has faced the Lakers just six times since 1979, with four of those matches coming in the last two seasons. The two sides hold an even 2-2-2 record against each other. The two sides played to a 0-0 draw in Kenosha last season. Roosevelt won the other match by a 4-3 final in Arlington Heights.
Parkside holds a 6-2-2 overall record against St. Cloud State, defeating the Huskies in both matchups last season. Parkside downed St. Cloud State 1-0 in St. Cloud thanks to a 76th-minute Keven Sosa goal, then defeated St. Cloud again, this time in Kenosha, 2-1.
Scouting Roosevelt
The Lakers enter the week 2-0-2 after posting a 2-0 win at UMSL on September 2nd before recording a 1-1 draw against Lake Erie their last time out on September 5th. Roosevelt was picked second in the GLIAC preseason coaches poll after finishing 7-2-3 in league play last season.
The Lakers are led by Fynn Mewes, who has nine points this season with four of the six Roosevelt goals, including a game winner. Cedrick Strupler has started three of the four matches this season, posting two clean sheets and making 14 saves while allowing just one goal.
The match with Parkside on Thursday kicks off a four-match homestand for the Lakers at Morris Field in Arlington Heights.
Scouting St. Cloud State
The Huskies enter the week 2-3-0 overall after going 1-1 last week in their first two home contests of the season. St. Cloud State opened the week dropping a 2-0 decision to Jamestown before rebounding with a 2-1 win over Illinois-Springfield on Saturday, September 12th. SCSU will have one match prior to taking on the Rangers this week. They host Purdue Northwest on Thursday afternoon.
SCSU was picked seventh of seven teams in the GLIAC preseason coaches poll and is led by graduate student Andres Garcia, who has four goals already this season. Garcia, who was a second-team All-GLIAC honoree his freshman season in 2021, has nearly bested his 2025 scoring, where he had five goals and an assist.
Erik Willke, a transfer from Quinnipiac University, has started all five matches in net for the Huskies, making 19 saves.
Following the week on the road, the Rangers will return to Kenosha for a two-match home weekend on September 25th and 27th with matches against Davenport and Saginaw Valley State University. The 27th will also be alumni day for the Rangers; alumni can click here to sign up.
