Parkside sweeps Lake Superior State in 3-0 road win

Parkside built a 10-3 lead in the opening set behind kills from Monica Lukasiewicz, Lucy Russ, Sierra Kilbourn, Maia Olson and Emily Zaper, along with a Lauren Peters service ace. After Lake Superior State scored to make it 10-4, Parkside took the next nine points, with Zaper serving eight straight points during a run that included three aces, kills by Olson, Zaper and Audrey Musselman, and several Lake Superior State errors. Lake Superior State got points back to reach 20-7, but Avary Polavin answered with two late kills as Parkside stayed in control. Delaney Molloy served the final three points, and Zaper closed the set with a kill for a 25-8 win.

After an early 3-3 tie, kills by Kilbourn, Zaper and Kilbourn on Natalie Harris' serve put Parkside ahead 6-3. Lake Superior State closed to 6-5 and later tied the set at 14-14; after the teams traded points to 16-16, Mia Garcia served two aces around a Giovanna Waters kill for a 19-16 Lake Superior State lead. A service error, a Polavin kill and a Russ kill brought Parkside even at 19-19, and after Waters put Lake Superior State back ahead 20-19, Polavin's kill, a Russ ace and a Kilbourn kill moved Parkside in front 22-20. Lake Superior State tied it again at 23-23, but Lukasiewicz answered with a kill for set point before Elisa Rizzoli's attack error, with an Olson-Kilbourn block credited, closed Parkside's 25-23 set win.

Parkside moved in front 4-1 in the third set behind two Lukasiewicz kills and a Polavin finish, but Lake Superior State came back to tie it at 5-5. Samantha Molenhouse served three straight points during a run to 9-5, and Parkside later pushed the margin to 17-9 on a Lukasiewicz kill and Peters service ace. After Lake Superior State cut it to 17-11, Parkside won the next five points, with Harris serving an ace and Olson adding three kills for a 22-11 lead. Lake Superior State scored three straight late, but Olson, Dani Kopacz and Polavin answered with kills as Parkside closed the set 25-15.

Parkside was led by Natalie Harris, who recorded a team-high 21 digs and added one service ace. Avary Polavin posted a team-high 11 kills while hitting .417 on the night. Lucy Russ contributed a team-high 25 assists, along with six digs, two kills and one service ace. Maia Olson added eight kills while hitting .538, while also recording two blocks and one service ace. Emily Zaper finished with a team-high three service aces, nine digs and six kills.
